Green Split Pea Soup

Ingredients:
300 g green split peas
4 c water
1/2 onion
1/4 lb bacon, sausage or smoked meat.

Render bacon until browned and add diced onion, cooking until soft. Add split peas and water and cook about 30 minutes or until soft.  Puree soup with an immersion blender, and season to taste.
